How do you film food so it looks good on camera?
Food films well when it is fresh, lit from behind or the side rather than the front, and shot within a few minutes of being plated. The practical constraints are that hot food dies fast, cold food sweats, and the camera exaggerates both, so the kitchen has to be part of the schedule rather than a location the crew visits. Most food that looks wrong on screen is not badly lit, it is simply too late.

Restaurant commercials
Shot in the real room, usually around service. That means working fast, keeping the crew small enough not to close the floor, and getting the hero shots before the dinner rush starts.
Social reels
Vertical, short, and cut for sound-off viewing. These are produced in batches, because the economics only work if one shoot day yields a month of posts.
Kitchen and preparation
The most watchable food footage is process rather than plating. Hands, heat and movement, shot close.
Brand and beverage films
Product-led work where the pour, the pour-back and the condensation are the shot, and the schedule is built around getting it repeatedly rather than once.
