Technology and SaaS Video Production | San Francisco Bay Area

Luma Creative produces video for technology companies across the San Francisco Bay Area, from seed-stage startups to the largest platforms. The work covers product and launch films, animated explainers for things that have no physical form, customer and founder interviews, conference and event capture, and live session recording.

What is a software demo video, and how is it different from a product film?

A software demo video shows the product doing the thing it does, usually as screen capture with a voiceover explaining each step, and its job is to remove doubt about whether the product works. A product film is about why the product exists and who it is for, and it usually mixes interviews, b-roll and motion graphics. Buyers watch a product film early and a demo late, which is why a single video asked to do both tends to do neither.

What this sector usually needs

Launch films

A launch has one date and no second chance, so the schedule runs backwards from it. We lock the edit early enough that legal, product marketing and the founder can all see it before it ships, because that review always happens and it is cheaper before the colour pass.

Animated explainer for abstract products

Infrastructure, security and developer tools have nothing to point a camera at. Animation is not decoration here, it is the only way to show the thing. That work starts with a storyboard the engineering team signs off, because the diagram has to be technically correct before it is beautiful.

Customer and founder interviews

The credible version is a customer explaining the problem in their own vocabulary. We prepare questions rather than answers, and we shoot enough that a two-minute cut, a fifteen-second social version and a conference loop all come out of the same day.

Conference and event capture

Keynotes, breakout sessions and booth activity, delivered fast enough to be useful during the event rather than after it.

Working with Luma Creative

We are in San Francisco, which means we can crew a shoot in the city or on the Peninsula at short notice, and we have worked inside the security and confidentiality constraints that larger technology companies bring.
