Rivian

Our work on this Rivian spec commercial showcased the power and versatility of Rivian vehicles while emphasizing their connection to adventure, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology. This ambitious commercial video production was completed over two days, spanning outdoor shoots in Lower Lake and Calistoga, California, as well as interior shoots at a house location and a local school. Despite challenging conditions, our talented crew of 30+ delivered a polished and compelling final product that went on to win the Musicbed Challenge for Best Video.

Creative Development

From the outset, our goal was to create a narrative that highlighted Rivian’s innovative design and commitment to exploration.

  • Scripting and Storyboarding:
    Our creative team crafted a 90-second script balancing the rugged, adventurous spirit of Rivian with its cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly ethos. Detailed storyboards ensured every frame contributed to the overarching story and visual impact.
  • Pre-Production:
    We worked closely with production designers and casting directors to source the perfect talent, settings, and props, creating a relatable yet aspirational tone aligned with Rivian’s brand identity.

Production

Filming spanned multiple locations to capture a dynamic range of visuals that underscored Rivian’s versatility and spirit of adventure.

  • Outdoor Locations:
    The rugged terrain of Lower Lake and Calistoga provided breathtaking backdrops. With temperatures exceeding 100°F our crew perservered maintaining peak performance under extreme conditions.
  • Indoor Locations:
    Interior scenes were shot in a school to add a relatable, family-oriented aspect, juxtaposing the adventurous outdoor visuals. Our team produced a chunk of the video at a local school!
  • Action Shots/ Drone Team:
    Using an armed car driven by a professional stunt driver, we captured exhilarating action shots that showcased Rivian’s power and maneuverability. A skilled drone team added dynamic aerial perspectives, offering a fresh and cinematic view of the vehicle in motion.

Post-Production

The editing and post-production phase was pivotal in transforming the raw footage into a cohesive and compelling narrative.

  • Editing and Color Grading:
    High-end cinematography served as the foundation for seamless editing, while vibrant color grading emphasized Rivian’s sleek design and the natural beauty of the California landscapes.
